Ride the cliche, vol. 1

It seems like just yesterday DX were escorted out of the ring by security and sent to "jail." Oh wait, that's because it was yesterday. If you've watched wrestling long enough, you know the cliches are endless. Here's an A-to-Z of our favorite wrestling cliches...ya damn right!

• A is for ambulances as in "quick get an ambulance he needs medical attention" and for anti-climactic as in "gee, every match is just that"


• B is for blind ref as in "oh shit, another wrestler or manager has distracted a referee's attention at just the right time"


• C is for chairshots as in "you can't have a match without one" and for celebrity appearances as in "get the fuck out of the ring Drew Carey"


• D is for drugs as in "they kill all the good wrestlers"


• E is for elimination chamber as in "the talent's not there, so let's whip up some huge steel device to take away from that"


• F is for fifty-year-old wrestlers as in "the young guys aren't doing it but these old men still can... whooo!" and for "from parts unknown" as in "who cares where the hell Ultimate Warrior's from"


• G is for guest referees as in "guest referees always impact a match but are never interesting"


• H is for "hype" as in "none of the new wrestlers live up to it" and also for "hulking up" because it never gets old


• I is for "I Quit matches" as in "no one has ever said 'I Quit' and actually did so"


• J is for just kidding as in "sorry that was only a two count, try again" and for jail as in "hey you're going to be arrested now for being in the building"


• K is for Kamala as in "check out the comment relating to the letter L"


• L is for legends as in "let's start using the term legend more loosely... sorry, Kamala"


• M is for midgets as in "when in need of a character booster, bring out a midget"


• N is for no necks as in "big body + little talent = big push"


• O is for overkill as in "stables and champions get old pretty quickly but no one seems to get that... well, the fans do..."


• P is for Paul Orndorff as in "Paul Orndorff deserves to be on some A-to-Z list"


• Q is for queer as in "openly gay wrestlers are a cheap pop, unless your names are Billy or Chucky"


• R is for roll-up quick victories as in "shit, we have too many vignettes get out there guys and wrestle for two minutes" and for run-ins as in "shit, this match sucks get out there Finley"


• S is for sexually-charged content as in "let's get good ratings by throwing out someone with big cans" and for surname as in "please I'm just Lashley now"


• T is for talking in third person as in "John Cena never backs down from a challenge," said John Cena


• U is for "unorthodox" as in "the only word Jim Ross can describe RVD's moves as being"


• V is for Vicera as in "Guys like Vicera get asked back but Randy Savage don't"


• W is for women as in "hey, who left the half-naked woman wrestler in the ring alone with that big bad guy?"


• X is for Xena the Warrior Princess as in "fuck it, she looked like Chyna and nothing starts with an X"


• Z is for Zeus as in "let's bring in an actor to be a wrestler and see if it works...paging The Great Khali"
